Dutch documentary filmmaker and creator of "Fall of the Cabal," a viral 10-part series alleging elite child trafficking networks; found dead in a camper van in Lund, Sweden, approximately five weeks after she disappeared, having previously stated publicly she would never commit suicide.

Her surname is frequently misspelled in English-language posts as Hasselbard, Hosebaard, Ossenbaard, or Ossenaard. The Dutch name is Ossebaard. There is no separate Dutch filmmaker named Janet Hasselbard; every search for that spelling leads back to this person.

Assessment: SUSPICIOUS​

Janet Ossebaard died under circumstances that combine several patterns seen across this investigation: a researcher who publicly exposed elite trafficking networks, who stated she would never commit suicide, who was found dead weeks later with the official ruling of suicide. Her partner Cyntha Koeter — a former police detective who was closest to her — confirmed the suicide and explicitly denied foul play, stating "No, Janet is not killed by the Cabal or anyone else." However, the five-week delay in discovering her body due to repeated police inaction, her prior public statements about never taking her own life, and the subject matter of her documentaries raise questions that her followers consider significant.

On X, the death is still treated as an assassination. A December 30, 2023 post by @Starboy2079 calling her "clintoned" drew more than 4,200 likes and 521,000 views. An August 21, 2026 memorial by @TheShadowIntelX — the post that prompted this page expansion — drew more than 6,500 likes and 70,000 views in a single day, with reply after reply insisting she did not kill herself. Dutch mainstream newspapers, Lund police, and Koeter all say otherwise. Both records belong on this page.

Circumstances of Death​

On November 16, 2023, Ossebaard left the residence she shared with her partner and collaborator Cyntha Koeter. According to Koeter, Ossebaard departed in a suicidal state, driving away in a camper van. She left without money, personal possessions, or her dog. She left a message indicating she intended to take her own life. Her final Telegram letter to followers contained language consistent with suicidal ideation.

Ossebaard drove to Lund, in southern Sweden, where she parked the camper van on a private property. On November 17, 2023 — one day after her arrival — the property owner called Swedish police to have the van removed. Police did not respond.

In late November 2023, the alternative media outlet Stop World Control — with Koeter's approval — published a missing persons report stating: "For quite some time Janet was not doing well, and she left a few weeks ago with the message that she was going to take her own life."

Approximately two weeks after the first call, the property owner contacted police again. Despite a notification already existing in their system, police still did not respond.

On December 22, 2023, after the property owner called police a third time and Ossebaard's family filed an official missing person report, police finally connected the reports, came to the property, broke open the camper van window, and discovered Ossebaard's body. She had been dead for approximately five weeks. Swedish police in Lund confirmed the cause of death as a medication overdose and ruled it suicide. According to the January 21, 2024 reconstruction by Algemeen Dagblad / De Stentor reporters Niek Megens and Phaedra Werkhoven, there were no traces of violence. Wikipedia, citing Lund police, states they believe she ended her life on or about the day she went missing — November 16, 2023.

Koeter later criticized the police response, noting their failure to act on the property owner's earlier calls had left the body undiscovered for over a month.

Last letters (as reported by Dutch newspapers)​

De Stentor / AD (January 21, 2024) reconstructed Ossebaard's final months from her Telegram posts (her personal channel had nearly 15,000 subscribers):

  • In April 2023 she and Koeter, according to that reconstruction, went through a crisis.
  • In June 2023 she posted that she was leaving "the Cabal theory" to follow her own path. She barely posted anymore on their joint Cabal channel. She described a "transition" away from the ego of "Janet Ossebaard," reported losing 10 kilograms, and said she was selling everything she owned. She wrote that her plan to save the world had failed, that it could not succeed, and that the real fight was with one's own ego.
  • De Groene Amsterdammer (February 7, 2024) reported the same sequence: months of "transition," 10 kilograms lost, possessions sold, departure for a hermit's existence in Sweden. By the time the body was found she had been dead five weeks.
  • On November 5, 2023 she posted a last letter. According to AD, she was by then already in Sweden, sleeping in a tent with her dog Claudy and cat Mims, and wrote "I can finally breathe again." She mused about her life, home, and what she described as a dominant mother.
  • In that last letter, as quoted by AD / De Stentor, she wrote that she was not depressed but saw everything clearly:

"Ik ben nieuwsgierig, ik ben nog nooit op dit punt geweest, alsof ik op een nieuwe planeet ben. Ik wil de hele weg gaan, weten, zodat ik kan zeggen: Het is klaar. Zullen jullie ooit nog van me horen? Ik denk het niet. De wereld is al vol lege woorden. Tot de volgende keer vrienden. Geniet van je droom zolang het duurt, misschien word je er wel wreed uit wakker gemaakt."

("I am curious, I have never been at this point, as if I am on a new planet. I want to go the whole way, to know, so I can say: It is finished. Will you ever hear from me again? I don't think so. The world is already full of empty words. Until next time, friends. Enjoy your dream as long as it lasts; maybe you will be cruelly awakened from it.")

Koeter's Telegram video after the body was found stated that Janet had taken an overdose of medication. Koeter's written announcement, widely circulated on X (including a December 24, 2023 video post by @whiterabbitb0t that drew 1,183 likes and 321,000 views), read:

Background​

Early career​

Janet Ossebaard studied English language and literature at the University of Groningen. At age 24, she started her own company, "Ossebaard & Janssen — Training and Consulting Group," providing communication training. She ran the business for approximately 10 years before selling it. She also trained as a natural medicine therapist, worked as a freelance coach and trainer, and according to folklorist Theo Meder (2006) ran a webshop selling crop-circle paraphernalia.

Crop circle research (1994–2019)​

In 1994, Ossebaard encountered a crop circle near the village of Witten in the Netherlands, which she described as a life-changing experience. She told De Stentor in 2017 that she had not been looking for a "great shift," that she had been emotionally stable and happy, and that the formation made her "completely still inside." She said she was "not easily impressed" but could not explain what she saw, and that she remained "an analytical animal."

She became a board member, and in 2005 chair, of the Dutch Centre for Crop Circle Studies. From 1995 she spent every summer in southern England mapping formations and taking soil samples. She said she had personally witnessed a circle being formed three times. She believed crop circles were communications from extraterrestrial beings. She built a devoted following on the Dutch alternative circuit.

Theo Meder, professor of folk narrative, joined DCCCS in the early 2000s to study the group's stories. In a 2020 Pointer interview he described the members as orderly, somewhat dull people with an unshakable belief that circles were made by extraterrestrial or supernatural forces — and, stacked on top of that, a catalogue of Illuminati / New World Order theories. Paranoia about being watched by the Dutch security service (AIVD) was common; Meder's note-taking led some members to decide he must be an agent. He described Ossebaard as among the more eccentric members. After he published research concluding the circles were not extraterrestrial, Ossebaard — by then chair — expelled him by email as persona non grata.

Between 2015 and 2018 she chaired the Graancirkel Centrum in Deventer and briefly operated a small crop-circle museum there. She appeared in the documentary Crop Circles: Quest for Truth (2002). A 2019 VPRO short, Een boodschap van buitenaf (Ramon Hoogerhuis and Maaike Ruigrok), filmed her in a grey fur coat with short red-dyed hair, binoculars around her neck and a high-powered laser pen in her pocket, sitting in a field with her white Labrador Claudy, signaling alleged craft. "And guaranteed they answer. Bang! With a flash. Sometimes three times." Pointer reported there was "not a grain of irony in her voice."

She was also, according to Conspiracy Watch and Pepijn van Erp, a long-time supporter of Dutch psychic Robbert van den Broeke, who has been shown to use photographic tricks. Van den Broeke claimed to channel, among others, assassinated Dutch politician Pim Fortuyn. After Ossebaard's death, Conspiracy Watch reported, van den Broeke claimed he had already been in contact with her in the afterlife, that she was happy, and that there are crop circles in that other world too. Van den Broeke is alive; those claims are his, reported by Conspiracy Watch.

"Fall of the Cabal" (2019–2023)​

In 2019, Ossebaard completed a 10-part documentary series titled "Fall of the Cabal" (De Val van de Cabal). Initially screened in small venues and sold on DVD, the series was released free on YouTube in early 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, which brought massive international attention. According to Conspiracy Watch, the series was translated into 25 languages and its total runtime exceeded 10 hours.

Pepijn van Erp, who published a part-by-part fact-check in 2020, recorded the title card of Part 1 as "The End of the World As We Know It – Things That Make You Go Hmmmm…" In the pre-title text she urged viewers to accept nothing as truth, do their own research, and double-check everything she presented.

The documentary covered topics including:

  • Alleged elite child trafficking networks and pedophilia
  • Jeffrey Epstein and his island
  • QAnon theories and "Q drops"
  • Shadow governments and the "deep state"
  • Banking power structures (she named the Rothschilds and Rockefellers; those are her claims, not court findings)
  • Historical conspiracy theories
  • Central banks, media, and what she called satanic networks at the highest levels (as later summarized on X)

According to Conspiracy Watch, the series became "the most popular and influential QAnon documentary." Sociologist J.M. Wright (Cambridge University Press, 2023) called it a general introduction to the "QAnon religion." A 2020 CTC Sentinel paper by Amarnath Amarasingam and Marc-André Argentino cited its influence on that community. Argentino (2023) described it as liturgical material inside QAnon. Dutch Wikipedia, citing Meder and Manuvie, calls her a key figure in spreading QAnon ideas in the Low Countries at the start of the COVID crisis. Criminologist Fiore Geelhoed described her mix as QAnon child-abuse claims stacked with aliens, chemtrails, vaccines, and 5G.

It was removed from YouTube and migrated to alternative platforms including Rumble and Bitchute. After platform restrictions she shut the YouTube channel; communication with followers moved to Telegram. The official site is fallcabal.com. In 2023, Conspiracy Watch reported, US right-wing influencer Dom Lucre (Dominick McGee, over a million X followers) used X's long-video feature to upload the complete first series; CW said it was still there in January 2024. Lucre is alive; that is a report of a republication, not an endorsement of the content.

"Children, Art & Pizza" (Part 5) — the section her audience treats as the core​

According to an August 2026 retrospective posted by @TheShadowIntelX on X, the section of the series titled "Children, Art & Pizza" was the portion that drew the widest attention — it laid out what Ossebaard described as a worldwide child trafficking and ritual abuse network, arguing that coded symbols, elite social events, and certain artwork pointed to crimes involving children among politicians, entertainers, and wealthy figures. That account states she supported the claims with documents and survivor testimony. These are Ossebaard's assertions as characterized by that post; the specific allegations she made about named individuals have not been established in any court, and several have been publicly disputed.

A 2025 Facebook recap that circulated among viewers listed a 10-part breakdown (fan titles, not independently verified against every title card): Part 1 "Thieves of the World" (central banks); Part 2 "Down the Rabbit Hole" (media); Part 3 "The Alien Invasion" (including Project Blue Beam); Part 4 "Childlovers Everywhere"; Part 5 "Children, Art & Pizza" (Podesta emails and pizzagate symbolism). Treat that list as a viewer's map, not a studio credit roll.

Conspiracy Watch wrote that the series' child-abuse narrative aligned with QAnon's adrenochrome myth — a supposed rejuvenating substance taken from tortured children — which CW traces to 1980s Satanic Panic and older blood-libel myths. CW also argued the series contained antisemitic content, including references CW identified as relating to the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, blood libel, and Khazar conspiracy theories. The series also promoted claims about "crisis actors," 5G technology, and adrenochrome. Those characterizations are CW's and van Erp's; Ossebaard's audience rejects them and treats the same footage as documentation of trafficking.

Van Erp's 2020 Part 1 fact-check listed dozens of specific claims he argued were false or unsupported, including California wildfires as directed-energy weapons, chemtrails as admitted geoengineering, mercury in childhood vaccines, Dutch organ-donor law as Nazi-style state ownership of bodies, a "Lucifer" Vatican telescope, photoshopped papal "devil horns," 9/11 physics, crisis-actor readings of terror attacks, and the claim that Seth Rich leaked DNC emails to WikiLeaks (contradicted, van Erp noted, by the official investigation and by reporting that Russian intelligence obtained the emails). His conclusion: she piled undated, unsourced assertions to create doubt rather than to prove an alternative. His series continues through parts 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6–10.

Together with Koeter, Ossebaard subsequently produced a 28-part sequel series ("The Fall of the Cabal: The Sequel") which covered additional historical claims. Conspiracy Watch wrote that the sequel was more explicitly antisemitic than the original. Some X posts count the sequel as 23 parts rather than 28; playlists on YouTube and Rumble run well into the twenties. A later climate-change episode circulated as Episode 28.

COVID-19 / 5G series (2020)​

In parallel she released a four-part COVID series, hosted on wanttoknow.nl, which the site claimed had more than 100,000 views. Pointer (April 18, 2020) watched it and wrote that it was not a documentary: the first three parts were a long voice-over over footage pulled from the internet.

According to Pointer, she stated COVID-19 was "an ordinary flu"; asked why there was "all this panic"; suggested 5G radiation caused flu-like symptoms and that COVID was being used to hide 5G illness; cited anonymous and disputed sources on Wuhan casualty numbers; tied Harvard chemist Charles Lieber's arrest to nanotech and "crowd control" (FactCheck.org found no link between Lieber and the virus); claimed an anonymous Chinese intelligence officer said the virus was a failed Hong Kong-repression tool dumped on the Wuhan market; and named Bill Gates as creating COVID for profit and for a "depopulation program" from 7 billion people to 500 million. Politifact and others have repeatedly rated the Gates-depopulation reading false. She then introduced "the Cabal," claimed US Defender 2020 had 30,000 troops in Europe to protect citizens (the exercise had been cancelled), and predicted a "great awakening" on April 10, 2020. Pointer noted that date passed without the predicted event.

Living people named in that series (Bill Gates, Charles Lieber, and others) have not been convicted of the acts she alleged. Those allegations are hers, as reported by Pointer.

Public controversies​

Pointer interview, Zutphen, April 2020​

Pointer journalists met her in a park in Zutphen on her conditions: not at her home, and no debate opponent. She offered a handshake they refused under COVID rules; she said the virus was ordinary flu and did not believe in 1.5-metre distancing. The interview, published April 18, 2020, ended when she walked out. Pointer reported she became angry when asked about 5G-mast arson then spreading in the Netherlands and about her lack of source citations. She accused the journalist of "mainstream media" questions, said she had looked up his LinkedIn, called him "Sukkel!" ("idiot"), compared her sourcing to NOS, and threatened to leave if the line of questioning did not change. She then left.

Lange Frans podcast, August 2020​

In August 2020, Ossebaard appeared on a podcast hosted by Dutch rapper Lange Frans in which her statements about Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte drew national attention and police scrutiny. De Telegraaf, NOS, AD, Trouw, and Hart van Nederland all reported that she and Frans speculated about an attack on Rutte and about people "falling over." Dutch Wikipedia describes her as openly fantasizing about committing such an attack. AD reported calls for the public prosecutor to examine whether the video was criminal incitement. Lange Frans later called the remarks "unfortunate" (October 2020). Conspiracy Watch reported press commotion but no police action. Elsevier ran an opinion piece arguing both belonged in prison or a psychiatric institution. Rutte and Frans Frederiks are alive; no court has found that either Ossebaard or Frederiks committed an attack. This section records the contemporaneous press record.

Jessica Prim arrest, New York, April 29, 2020​

Conspiracy Watch reported that on April 29, 2020, New York police arrested 37-year-old Jessica Prim in Manhattan. According to that account, Prim declared she wanted to "take out" Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, and Tony Podesta (brother of John Podesta); said she had reached that decision by watching Fall of the Cabal; had several knives in her car; and had been live-streaming the trip on Facebook. Prim is alive. The arrest is a reported public event. The intended targets are alive. Nothing in this paragraph is a finding that Ossebaard ordered or intended violence; it is a reported case of a viewer who, according to CW, cited the series.

Nomadic lifestyle and pressures​

After gaining prominence, Ossebaard and Koeter adopted a nomadic lifestyle, frequently relocating. Some followers attributed this to safety concerns related to the content of their documentaries. Conspiracy Watch wrote that they spent most of their time in Spain and expressed discontent with what they called the "dictatorship" of the Netherlands. In June 2021, both Ossebaard and Koeter were reported missing for three days, alarming their followers, before they resurfaced without explanation.

According to Koeter, in the months before her death, Ossebaard suffered from "severe emotional weariness" caused by the intensive pace of documentary production and a "forced move" (relocation) that triggered a downward spiral. Koeter stated that Ossebaard had struggled with severe depression and "death wishes" throughout her life, and that this was not a new condition.

Why This Death Possibly Raises Questions​

  • Prior statements about never committing suicide: Multiple sources report that Ossebaard stated publicly over the preceding years that she would never take her own life. Her followers cite this as contradicting the suicide finding. The August 21, 2026 @TheShadowIntelX post that re-viralized her story led with that claim. Reply after reply on X treats it as proof of murder ("We all know Janet Ossebaard didn’t unalive herself"; "They killed another researcher"; "You’ll realize, after watching them, she did not kill herself").
  • Subject matter of her work: Ossebaard's documentaries focused on alleged elite child trafficking networks and powerful figures — the same subject matter connected to multiple suspicious deaths documented in this investigation.
  • Five-week delay in body discovery: Swedish police failed to respond to the property owner's calls on November 17 and again approximately two weeks later, despite having a notification in their system. The body was not found until December 22, 2023.
  • Pattern of researchers dying: Ossebaard's death fits a broader pattern documented in this investigation of individuals who publicly accused elite networks of trafficking and abuse dying under contested circumstances — including Sabrina Bittencourt, Natacha Jaitt, Isaac Kappy, and Tracy Twyman.
  • June 2021 disappearance: Both Ossebaard and Koeter disappeared for three days in 2021, which was never publicly explained.
