Intelligence Service Murders: Political Assassinations and Suspicious Deaths (1953–Present)

Since the Church Commission exposed CIA assassination plots in 1975, the public has known that intelligence services murder people. What the Church Commission revealed — plots against Castro, Lumumba, Trujillo, Schneider, and Diem — was supposed to end the practice. President Ford signed Executive Order 11905 in 1976: "No employee of the United States Government shall engage in, or conspire to engage in, political assassination." Reagan's E.O. 12333 repeated it verbatim in 1981.

The killings never stopped. They evolved.

This project documents intelligence service murders, political assassinations, and suspicious deaths of journalists, whistleblowers, scientists, dissidents, and political figures from the Cold War to the present. The focus is on killings carried out by or connected to intelligence agencies worldwide — CIA, MI6, Mossad, KGB/FSB/GRU, DINA, ISI, Saudi GIP, and others — with special attention to operations targeting Americans or conducted to control American politics.
